What does it mean to send Reiki to the past or future?

Some memories still hurt almost as much as they did on the first day, even years later: a goodbye, an argument that ended badly, or a chapter we never quite closed. And some dates have not arrived yet but already keep us awake at night: an interview, surgery, a move. In both cases, something that is not happening now affects us in the present.
Reiki makes it possible to work with exactly that. Just as it can be sent to someone far away, it can also be directed toward a situation in the past or future: to ease the burden left by something that happened or support you through what is still to come.
When I explain this, people are often surprised, and understandably so: it is not something you hear about every day. That is why this article explains how it is possible, which situations you can work with, and what to expect from this kind of session.
How Reiki can be sent to another point in time
In Reiki, energy is directed through intention. That is what makes it possible to send a session to someone living in another country: what matters is not the distance, but the connection established with that person. Something similar applies to time, because on an energetic level the past and future are not as separate from the present as they seem in everyday life.
In practice, the person channeling Reiki connects with a specific situation: a conversation that happened years ago or an operation scheduled for next month. With that clear reference, they direct energy toward that moment, just as they would direct it toward a person.
When the energy reaches that moment, it works with what the situation brings up in you: the emotion tied to a memory or the tension caused by something yet to come. Reiki can help ease that burden.
Reiki for the past: working with what still weighs on you
Some situations remain with us long after they happened. We remember them and something stirs inside: distress, anger, sadness, or fear, as though a part of us were still in that moment. Sending Reiki to the past means working with the burden that experience left and that still affects you today.
Almost any experience that continues to weigh on you can be addressed this way. Some common examples are:
- Breakups and separations: relationships that ended but that you have not fully been able to close.
- Losses: of a loved one, a job, or a period of your life.
- Unresolved conflicts: arguments that ended badly or relationships that broke off suddenly.
- Accidents and frightening experiences: events that left fear or tension in the body.
- Difficult moments in childhood: memories that return whenever you think about them.
Reiki does not change the facts: what happened, happened. What can change is the energy that experience left in you and the way you carry it today. Many people feel that afterward they can remember the situation more calmly and with much less pain.
Reiki for the future: supporting what lies ahead
The future can affect us in a similar way, but in the opposite direction. Events that have not happened yet can already make us nervous, anxious, or afraid. Sending Reiki to the future means supporting that moment before it arrives so you can go through it with more balance.
People often request it for important events they know are coming, such as:
- Interviews and exams: occasions when you want to arrive with a clear mind and calmer nerves.
- Surgeries and treatments: to move through the process with more calm and confidence.
- Trips and moves: changes that involve a great deal of activity and many decisions.
- Difficult conversations: with your partner, family, or at work, which you have been putting off.
- Childbirth: to experience that moment with more calm and presence.
Reiki directed toward the future does not guarantee an outcome. It cannot ensure you get the job or that a conversation goes as you hope, nor does it decide for other people. What it can do is support you in approaching the moment with greater calm, clarity, and presence, which are the parts within your control.
How to tell whether to work with a past or future situation
A simple way to decide is to notice how you feel when you think about it. If remembering something from the past still hurts, changes your mood, or feels unfinished, that situation may benefit from Reiki work.
The same applies to the future. If something approaching brings anxiety, sleeplessness, or repetitive thoughts, sending Reiki to that moment may help you move through the wait more peacefully.
You do not have to choose just one: often the past and future are connected. Fear of something ahead can come from something that has already happened, and working with both situations can feel freeing.
What you may feel after a session
Responses vary widely from person to person. Some people feel immediate relief, as if something inside has loosened. Others notice changes over the following days: they remember the situation without the same emotional weight or approach a feared event with an unexpected sense of calm.
Emotions can also surface in the days afterward, especially when working with the past: a desire to cry, memories returning, or tiredness. This can be part of releasing what had been held inside and is often followed by a feeling of greater lightness.
What a Reiki session for the past or future involves
In my sessions, the process is simple. You tell me which situation you want to work with and, if you know it, the date it happened or will happen. A brief description is enough; the important thing is to identify the situation clearly so I can direct the energy toward it.
The session takes place at a distance, and you do not need to be online at a specific time. Afterward, you receive a written report with what I observed during the session and some recommendations for the days that follow.
